My great, great grandfather, Sanford Hunt Bailey, was a prominent business man in downtown Santa Cruz from the 1860s thru the 1920s. His grave is in the historic Evergreen Cemetery and the advertisement for his store, which was located on Pacific Ave., can be found in the history book in the gift shop of the MAH.
He was a jeweler, optician and clock-maker. I wonder what he'd think about me, and I sometimes think about carrying on his creative legacy as I build my own art career in Santa Cruz county. I moved my family to this area about 10 years ago and had always felt a special connection. When I started digging into this family history it really tied it all together and I'm so glad to be back here, contributing my gifts to this cosmic place.
